Traffic for Tranquility (Part 2) Plus: A “Little Mama” Picture

March 14, 2013

If you read yesterday’s post, you’ll know that I spent my birthday puttering around the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, shivering in the cold and searching out photo ops.

Before I show you my photos though, let me show you a couple aerial shots that I found on the web so that you can see the scope of the place where I was driving.  I took some pictures of this bridge from a different vantage point; it is such an amazing structure passing over such amazing scenery.

And now, here are a few shots that Mr. Nikon and I found.

It was a great day for solitude, for meandering, for scenery and for great photo-taking opportunities..

And speaking of photos . . .

here is a comparison collage of our grandbaby-making daughter-in-law, Meagan; it shows where she was at two weeks ago and where she is now.

There still isn’t a definite due date nailed down but I’m willing to guess it’s not going to be late October/early November as was originally thought!  In fact, a lot of people have been wondering if she’ll be having twins.

Exciting stuff! We’ll keep you posted.

WOW! Has Meagan been to the doctor yet? She sure looks further along then just a few months… A friend of mine had twins – and looked like that four four months…. good luck to her – and I hope she has a healthy, stress free pregnancy…

  2. Mrs. Pam says:

gorgeous photos! Looking out my window, I see a broken down fence, VERY faded grass, and a gloomy gray sky… but, I can smile seeing the five blooming daffodils, and the bird nibbling on my suet feeder…. neither of which are postcard worthy photos!

so, hopefully sweet Meagan will soon find out the due date and how many are actually due. Hope she is feeling good.

  3. Kristi says:

    Beautiful pics!

WOW I can’t wait to hear more updates on Meagan’s pregnancy!

  4. Jojy Smith says:

Becky…some of those scenic photos looked like beautiful postcards! Good Job!!

    • Becky says:

      Jojy, thanks!

It’s hard to take a bad picture when there was so much beauty all around! (Although I suppose the pictures DID take a wee bit of skill.) 🙂

  5. klberndtKim says:

Wow…I’m saying I agree with everyone else…either twins…or she’s must be farther along than she thinks! 😉 How exciting non-the-less!

    • Becky says:

Kim, yes, I was pretty amazed when I saw that second picture. It made me feel like this thing is really, really REAL! 🙂

  6. Tiffany H says:

As the mother of twins, I will say that she looks alot like I did when I was about 4 months pregnant! 🙂 If in fact, she is having twins, tell her that she needs to get all the sleep she can until they come, because I don’t think I slept much at all those first few months!! However, life is never dull with the twins around, and I am sure they will handle it beautifully, whether it be one baby or two!

    • Becky says:

      Tiffany,

I can’t quite imagine twins for Nathan and Meagan–wow! I know they will rise to the occasion though, and be wonderful parents to whomever comes along!

  7. Suzanne says:

I think I’m with Liz on this one…either twins or a summer baby 🙂 Regardless, that Smith baby(babies) are so blessed being born into this family! Congratulations again to all the Smiths and Hawleys!

    The pictures are beautiful!

    • Becky says:

      Suzanne,

So glad you liked the pictures; I had a lot of (shivery) fun taking them!

I’m hoping for the summer baby option! 🙂

  8. Chase says:

Congratulations on your new grandbaby and to Nathan and Meagan.

  9. Mary H says:

Twins??? That popped into my mind when I saw the photo – only 2 weeks apart!!! Well, wouldn’t that be exciting x 2! Becky, I have had some wild days at work the last two days and I can’t tell you how much I needed to see the beautiful photos of the sea, imagine the sound and smell and just exhale and regroup. Thank you, Becky and Mr. Nikon. So glad you had a “me” day – I need to call one of those for myself very soon.

    • Becky says:

      Mary H,

So glad to know that my pictures of the sea sent some salt-sprayed calm into your life. And yes, you DO need to schedule a Me Day soon!

  10. jenna hoff says:

What beautiful photos. Today we are in the midst of a snow storm with 10-12 cm of snowfall forecast for to fall by tomorrow so I especially enjoyed them!

    • Becky says:

      Jenna,

That’s a LOT of snow! Sometimes I miss seeing a lot of snow all around but other times (like today when it’s sunny and 55 degrees) I don’t miss it too much! 🙂

  11. Lisa from Georgia says:

How gorgeous…the scenery and the daughter-in-love! Congratulations to all of you!

  12. Liz Wicks says:

Becky, I used to work with pregnant teens, and when they looked like Meagan is looking, they weren’t due in Oct/November! As a matter of fact, if I were a betting lady, I would guess either twins or late summer!
