Vernie Smith Video/Funeral

April 13, 2022

Here is the link to the celebration of life video I made for Vernie’s funeral.  I’m posting it for my wonderful blog family as well as those who are coming here after reading her online obituary.

Also, you can see the video of the whole service below.

Some highlights for Smithellaneous readers who read our blog and are at least virtually acquainted with our family.

1:11   Sarah and Nathan share memories.

1:33  I performed a song that I wrote when I was about 19 years old.  I was having a little trouble breathing, but I made it!

1:45   Three of the grandkids joined in on a song.

1:55   Meagan did her amazing rendition of Redeemer.

It was a wonderful time to honor both Vernie and Ken. Since we didn’t get to have a public service for him due to Covid, we shared a
5-minute video of his private service.

Thank you so much for your comments, words of compassion, and prayers.  We have felt every one of them.

All of these are incredible tributes. I especially love the bit of them singing together. What wonderful keepsakes these will be to remember yourselves, and to share with future generations!

      Kristina,

I can’t walk through a store and hear “Marshmallow World” without stopping in my tracks to listen and remember. That little snippet is such a treasure.

    A beautiful video and tribute!!

  4. Gloria A Smith says:

Wow, the tribute to Vernie was awesome!! What a beautiful lady. The photos of Pastor Steve’s brothers greatly resemble Nathan and Nathan’s oldest son. I’m assuming the blonde fellow was Steve’s brother.

Thank you for sharing with us Becky. I am amazed at your ability to ‘put things together’ in a short period of time!!! God has truly blessed you. I don’t believe that most people have the ability to organize and share blogs & tributes like my friend Becky Smith!!! And as a result, your Blog family is blessed as well.

    • Becky says:

      Gloria,

Yes, all the blonde adults are brothers.

Such sweet words about the video tribute and my blog posts. Thank you for your encouragement.

So precious. Such love expressed . Thankful we have that blessed hope for all who trust Jesus as our Lord and Savior . He is our redeemer. This is Holy Week but in reality every day is a Holy Day as we abide in Him .

Love and sympathy in Christ who loved us first…💟🙏🎶❤️🦋✝️

How beautiful. The love from the photo tribute just exploded out of those pictures. I saw Steve so much in his father’s eyes. It’s clear to see why Steve was such a wonderful guy, as I’m sure you are too Becky. I will continue to pray for Gods comfort for all of you. I know you know they are rejoicing with Jesus. No greater place to be, but how we miss them.

Beautiful video of a life well lived. I know that was a labor of love.

  12. Sharyn L. McDonald says:

What a beautiful service – each one who spoke had such great admiration for Vernie. Steve, of course, great speaker and had such wonderful memories and love for his dad. The kids really were into the song as Steve played his guitar and Becky – soooo good to hear you sing again. It was a blessing.

    • Becky says:

      Sharyn,

I was so glad the kids decided to get up and sing along. They weren’t even going to do it until they sat in on the rehearsal and just started singing along on the chorus.

I know you were one of my few blog readers who has heard me sing in person. Glad you enjoyed the song I did.

  13. Debbie says:

    What a beautiful tribute!

Becky, thanks for sharing this special service with us. The slide show made me feel like I knew Vernie. It was really special how so many family members contributed to the service. Your song was lovely.

    • Becky says:

      Greta,

Thanks for saying the slide show made you feel like you knew Vernie. That means I accomplished my task of sharing her beautiful life with those who loved her and those who may not have even met her.

    Spectacular job!

I love the music choices (your song is my favorite!) and the selection of pictures that tell Vernie’s life story so well. Such a gift for all who loved her. ❤️

    Love, Deb

Thank you Becky for sharing. It was perfect. I remember the song you sang so well. It was one of my favorites and remember listening to it over and over. They would have so enjoyed the beautiful music provided by their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I can picture them so clearly side by side with those big smiles listening and probably singing along. Take care. Ginny

    • Becky says:

      Ginny,

Smiling and singing along. Yes, that’s exactly what they would have done that day. The thought of that makes me happy. 🙂
