The Surrounding of Love

June 21, 2022

I made it to Ruth’s house at 3:30 a.m. Thanks to my big brother, Tim, for picking me up at the airport at midnight and driving me over to the house.

When I first walked into the house and saw Mom she gave me a welcomingly smile and then immediately through her garbled voice asked, “Are you hungry?”

The four of us gathered siblings all laughed and said, “Once a mom, always a mom.”

Lying on her death bed, her first thought was to worry if her newly arrived daughter needed something to eat.

So many memories today.  So many stories.  I don’t have much time to slip away to share many of them but did want to at least let you know I made it here safely and Mom is still with us. The nurse is still saying hours to days.

So thankful for the surrounding of family love.
